Kids birthday party games are relatively easy to plan and they are even easier to play. The best part is that they generally do not cost a cent.
If you are clever about it, you can adjust the normal kid’s birthday party games to something that suits the theme of the party. For instance, if you are playing Simon Says you can turn it into Zombie says if you are having a Halloween-themed party or maybe Pirate Says, Princess Says or even Monster says – whatever theme you are having, incorporate it into the birthday.
For something like pin the tail on the donkey – change the donkey to something more suitable – you have pin the eye patch or peg leg on the pirate or pin the tiara on the princess or queen. Use your initiative to make kids birthday party games suited to the theme.
Another one of the popular kid’s birthday party games is Chinese Whispers – this is also a game that is quite easy to adjust. It can be Pirate Whispers or Zombie Groans – or anything that suits the theme. Chinese Whispers works by sitting everybody down in a circle and giving the first person (usually the birthday boy or girl) the sentence to pass around the circle. The sentence should be something silly (and suited to the party) you can use a sentence like “The hungry Zombie ate two umbrellas” for a Halloween –themed party. The sentenced is then passed around the circle by whispering in each other’s ear and when the sentence reaches the last person – that person has to stand up and say the sentence out loud. The funny part about this game is that by the time it reaches the end of the circle it has turned into something quite ridiculous!
Freeze and musical chairs are also popular kid’s birthday party games. These kids birthday party games are quite easy to play. For freeze, you play the music and everybody dances, once you stop the music everybody has to freeze – if somebody moves, they are out of the game. Musical chairs is one of the most popular kids birthday party games, you place chairs in a circle (one less chair than the amount of guests) and you play music. When the music stops, everybody has to grab a chair – whoever does not manage to get a chair is out of the game. Every time the music stops you remove one more chair until only one chair and two players remain – whoever gets the chair last is the winner.
Pass the parcel is another one of those great kids birthday party games that can be adjusted according to theme. It can be zombie’s brains, queen’s package, pirate’s treasure, etc. You need music for this one too – you need to wrap a whole lot of small gifts like candy, markers, temporary tattoos or whatever else kids will enjoy – and sit everyone down in a circle. Play the music and tell the kids to pass the parcel, once the music stops, the person holding the parcel gets to unwrap it and keep the gift and leaves the circle. The process then repeats itself – just make sure you have enough gifts for everyone.
